Movavi Game Capture is a screen recorder program, which also lets you capture audio from the internal mixer or a microphone and take screenshots. Fortunately, the tool is quite easy to use. All you should know is that it runs from the System Tray, from where you can open its main window as well as start and stop recording.
The application supports three recording modes: screencast, online video and game. The screencast mode is ideal for creating on-screen tutorials, such as those that teach how to use a given application. It lets you select just a region or the whole screen, and it has a very convenient feature that detects the boundaries of a region automatically. Unluckily, the tool does not allow changing those boundaries once you have started recording. The online video mode, in turn, lets you grab a video directly from the screen, which may be the answer to making an offline copy of a video that cannot be downloaded by regular means. Finally, there is the mode that gives the program its name; it allows recording gameplay even when you are using the whole screen. To make this possible, the program permits programming specific hotkey combinations for such operation as starting, pausing and stopping a recording session.
The tool has various nice features. One of them is that it can apply effects to screencasts, such as adding click sounds and highlighting mouse clicks and cursor. Besides, it allows sharing the resulting video online and converting it to other formats. Fortunately, you do not have to be an expert to know which target profile to use, because the application comes with presets compatible with specific devices. It is also good that there is a wide range of supported formats. I just wished the tool had some basic editing features, such as those that allow splitting and cutting a video.
In general, Movavi Game Capture does its job wonderfully. The recorded movies have excellent quality and you have control over resolution and frame rate. This product is shareware and its trial version can be used for up to seven days with almost no limitations, except that it leaves a watermark on your videos.
